Saskatchewan Polytechnic Victim of Cyberattack

Saskatchewan Polytechnic was a victim of a cyberattack this past October 30th. Classes were canceled for a week after a suspected ransomware attack on rocked the school’s systems. Students and staff lost access to Microsoft 365 functions, Zoom, and learning platforms. Online classes have been partially restored, but the recovery for impacted systems is ongoing with law enforcement involved. Saskatchewan Polytechnic operates campuses in 4 locations.

The school says it’s taking steps to increase online security for students and employees including multi-factor authentication for online services, additional information about how to spot a phishing email, and new anti-virus software for employees’ computers.

At time of this posting, Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s website is not operating.
